Harris Corp. is celebrating National Engineers Week with various programs for its 6,000 engineers and scientists.
From Feb. 17 to Feb. 20, Harris will conduct technology demonstrations, seminars and contests for its engineers, the company announced Monday.
Harris has invited Guy A. Boy, Florida Institute of Technology professor and Human-Centered Design Institute director, and Gregory Welch, the Florida Hospital Endowed Chair in Healthcare Simulation at the University of Central Florida College of Nursing, to be guest speakers.
“This annual event highlights engineering achievements and the contributions made by our talented engineers throughout the year,” said William M. Brown, Harris president and CEO.
“They make a significant difference for our customers and — through their mentoring and volunteer work — help to shape the next generation of engineers,” he added.
Harris will name John Nieto, a 29-year old employee and senior scientist with the Harris RF Communications segment, the recipient of the 2014 Harris Corp. Fellow Award, the company’s highest recognition for engineering achievement.
Harris will also hold tours, career discussions and presentations for students and faculty from local public high schools.
