State Dept Seeks Industry Help for EHR 'Analysis of Alternatives' - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe State Department has issued a request for information on vendors that can help develop an “analysis of alternatives” for an upcoming electronic health record system procurement effort.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Friday says that DOS needs industry support to evaluate the potential advantages and risks of the department’s shared EHR services with other federal agencies and examine other EHR commercial off-the-shelf platforms that may address Bureau of Medical Services requirements.

MED oversees a healthcare program that delivers medical services to DOS personnel and other U.S. government employees working at diplomatic posts abroad.

Responses to the RFI will help the department decide whether to award a small business set-aside contract or conduct a full and open competition for EHR procurement.

DOS noted it will consider COTS products and shared services opportunities with other agencies that are implementing new EHR systems, such as the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
