Rockwell Collins will provide additional global positioning system receivers to the U.S. Air Force‘s Space and Missile Systems Center under a follow-on order.
The latest order is for 300 Military-Code GPS receivers and follows the company’s delivery of 700 receivers to USAF SMC as part of the GPS User Equipment program, Rockwell Collins said Thursday.
Troy Brunk, vice president and general manager of Rockwell Collins’ communication, navigation and electronic warfare systems business, said the receiver technology is designed to address military requirements for GPS navigation reliability and security.
M-Code works to increase GPS capacity for military use and avoids signal interference with military or civilian equipment.
The company aims to obtain security certification from the Air Force’s GPS directorate for the M-Code receiver within the year to accelerate testing and integration of the technology in additional platforms.
