TRU Simulation + Training, a Textron subsidiary, will test an augmented reality feature for the Bell V-280 Valor helicopter simulator, Defense News reported Thursday.
John Hayward, senior vice president and general manager of military and the business simulation sector at TRU, told the company developed the V-280 simulator to introduce augmented reality features in the market.
The V-280 demonstrator will commence its first flight before the year ends prior to the U.S. Army‘s Joint Multi-Role demonstration which will be used to help plan for a future vertical lift program of record.
TRY will integrate an augmented and virtual reality headset on the simulator’s cockpit which will provide users with a view of their hands, cockpit controls, avionics and a virtual scene of a helicopter.
