The Defense Department has approved a CompTIAÂ program that works to certify an information technology professional’s skills to prevent, recognize and address cyber threats.
CompTIA said Tuesday its Cybersecurity Analyst certification is now included in DoD’s Directive 8570.01-M that lists requirements to train, validate and manage the department cyberspace workforce.
CSA+ has been approved as a baseline standard for five cybersecurity professional categories that include Cyber Security Service Provider-Analyst, CSSP-Incident Responder, CSSP-Infrastructure Support, CSSP-Auditor and Information Assurance Technical Level II.
“CompTIA is strongly committed to strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity posture, whether it’s through education for employees, best practices for organizations or high-stakes certifications for IT professionals,” said Joe Padin, vice president of U.S. federal and education sales at CompTIA.
The trade association also holds American National Standards Institute accreditation for its CSA+ program.
