Huntington Ingalls Industries has received a $27.5 million in contract options from the U.S. Navy to provide a range of support services for the military branch’s Gerald R. Ford-class and Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the exercised options cover technical, engineering, design, development, conversion, test, studies, operational and modernization support as well as material, spares, repair parts and test equipment, among others.
Huntington Ingalls will also perform planning yard services and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance upgrades.
The company will carry out work in Newport News, Virginia through September 2018.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $7,370,919 at the time of award from the Navy’s fiscal 2015 through 2017 “other” procurement; fiscal 2016 shipbuilding and conversion; fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement; and fiscal 2017 weapons procurement; and fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.
