A subsidiary of Mechanical Technology Inc. has received a potential $9.35 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to deliver PBS 4100+ vibration measurement and balancing systems.
MTI Instruments will also provide maintenance services under the contract, with initial orders anticipated within the next two months and succeeding orders anticipated for next year, MTI said Friday.
The company added that the first order will partially cover supply backlog resulting from the gap between a previous contract for the PBS 4100+ that lapsed in 2014 and this current award.
Kevin Lynch, MTI chairman and CEO, said the PBS 4100+ system and accessories are designed to support Air Force jet engine test and maintenance programs aimed to check engine safety and aircraft flight readiness.
