Xerox has launched two electronic-based printed labels the company built to store data that can be used to track the condition and verify the authenticity of a product.
Xerox Printed Memory is designed to store up to 68 billion data points and has a rewritable memory of up to 36 bits, while the Xerox Printed Memory with Cryptographic Security has a printed encrypted code that requires a code reader in order to access data, the company said Tuesday.
Steve Simpson, a vice president at Xerox, said the printed memory labels work to “ensure the integrity of a product from the time it leaves the factory to the time it gets into the hands of a customer.â€
Xerox subsidiary PARC developed the cryptographic security tool for the printed memory products, which were based on a technology platform Xerox licensed from Thin Film Electronics ASA in December 2014.
Xerox will exhibit the labels at the three-day Pharma Expo conference that is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 28 in Las Vegas.
