Anduril has unveiled its new advanced undersea sensor network aimed at enhancing maritime awareness.
The company said Thursday Seabed Sentry is an artificial intelligence-enabled undersea sensor with networked nodes designed to monitor and provide real-time communication from the seafloor. The mobile undersea sensor network utilizes AI to gather accurate and continuous autonomous surveillance of the ocean floor for commercial and military sectors.
Advantages of Seabed Sentry
Existing autonomous subsea sensing and communications technology, operating slowly in silos, are limited because of the ocean’s vastness and poor visibility. The Seabed Sentry is intended to address the gaps in connectivity and perception and achieve seamless data exchange. Anduril’s advanced undersea sensor technology is designed to endure a depth rating of over 500 meters and a payload capacity of more than 0.5 cubic meters. It can also potentially last for months to years. Furthermore, its modular and reusable design allows it to be utilized for various applications, including in harsh underwater conditions.
The Seabed Sentry’s cable-less and reusable design is meant to eliminate the high costs and maintenance challenges of fixed seafloor surveillance systems since it can be recovered, recharged and deployed by autonomous underwater vehicles. Its mobility also enables the creation of a defense grid that safeguards maritime zones and infrastructure.
The Lattice AI-powered network can also support different payloads while its open system architecture allows seamless integration of diverse sensors and payloads for various missions such as seabed surveying, marine pattern of life building, port security, and anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare. In addition, its deep-sea nodes are capable of sensing, processing and communicating vital underwater data at the edge in real time.
