Verizon’s public sector business has secured five Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions task orders, worth a combined $887 million, from the Department of Labor to modernize the agency’s legacy network infrastructure.
The company said Tuesday it will work to drive the adoption of technologies to enhance data, voice, unified communications, video services and enterprise applications for the DOL’s 20,000 users. The custom managed services work is expected to result in a secure, converged data and voice network that spans approximately 1,000 locations.
Jennifer Chronis, Verizon Public Sector’s senior vice president and a 2021 Wash100 Award winner, commented that securing the EIS task orders strengthens the company’s position as an end-to-end digital services provider for government agencies.
“Our next-generation technology and modernized network services are helping to transform the way DOL serves their constituents, today and into the future,” Chronis added.
Under the first task order, Verizon will modernize the DOL’s IT foundation by designing and building new network architecture to support a managed network with data, voice and toll-free services. The second task order will be a continuation of existing work to enhance the department’s web conferencing and audio services.
Verizon will deliver Content Delivery Network Services under the third task order. The public sector business will work to create an enterprise-level cloud environment that will serve as the foundation for implementing Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service for the DOL.
The fourth task order provides for the agency’s Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service. Verizon will install MTIPS ports at seven DOL data centers.
Work under the fifth task order includes the deployment of Unified Communications Services that will move the agency to IP-based voice and video services as well as provide the DOL workforce with better connection and collaboration capabilities.
Verizon Public Sector previously completed work through a task order to transition the agency’s Co-located Hosting Service requirements from its previous GSA Networx contract to the new EIS contract vehicle.
