TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 12, 2021 — Lockheed Martin has tapped El Segundo, California-based launch vehicle developer ABL Space Systems for rockets and launch services in support of the aerospace company's efforts to send payload technologies into orbit, ExecutiveGov reported April 5.
Under the block buy agreement between the two companies, ABL will provide Lockheed with up to 26 RS1 vehicles through 2025 and 32 additional launches at most through 2029.
Rick Ambrose, executive vice president at Lockheed's space business and a 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, said the long-term partnership with ABL is expected to enable Lockheed to accelerate demonstration of spacecraft and associated payload technologies being developed for future missions.
