The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division has partnered with operational technology security company Shift5 to conduct cyber resiliency research and development activities under a cooperative R&D agreement.

Shift5 said Monday the partnership aims to study legacy system resilience against cybersecurity threats and explore the potential commercialization and delivery of new technology to warfighters.

The company plans to apply its experience in operational intelligence and cyber defense to facilitate innovation in naval systems.

Josh Lospinoso, co-founder and CEO of Shift5, said the agreement serves as the company’s first U.S. Navy partnership and extend its services throughout the Naval Air Enterprise.

Contract work will occur at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland and company facilities located in Arlington, Virginia.

Shift5’s railroad and military platform security portfolio supports a range of transportation assets such as aircraft, locomotive fleets, heavy vehicles, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, maritime vessels, weapons systems, satellites and spacecraft.
