Fairbanks Morse, a Beloit, Wisconsin-based reciprocating engine manufacturer, has secured a six-year, $53 million contract to help the U.S. Coast Guard extend the service life of Famous-class cutters' 18-cylinder FM 251F engines.

Work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will cover the provision of special tools, services, facilities, incidental materials, technological data, supplies and personnel in support of the USCG 270-foot WMEC Service Life Extension Program, the company said Tuesday.

Fairbanks Morse, a portfolio company of Arcline Investment Management, will also carry out engineering work, provide spare parts and install new engines.

Field factory-certified original equipment manufacturer technicians will also be deployed as part of the contract to ensure the longevity of USCG's Famous-class cutter fleet.

The company has delivered marine diesel engines and provided ship services to the U.S. Navy and the Coast Guard for more than 70 years.
