Crowley Solutions has secured a five-year, $15 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to transport and distribute fuel in support of the Canada North Warning System locations.
The company said Wednesday it will collaborate with the Government of the Northwest Territories's marine transportation services division to transport kerosene-type Jet A1 fuel with fuel system icing and corrosion inhibitor to various stations across the region.
John Vandenberg, assistant deputy minister for programs and service at GNWT, said the government will deploy its updated tug-and-barge fleet to help Crowley's tank vessels carry out work.
Crowley will also perform fuel over-the-shore services and lighterage-to-barge deliveries as part of the contract.
Services under the contract are intended to support 21 radar sites across the North Warning System locations.
