LocatorX has won a contract to develop an automated inventory management system for potential use at warehouses operated by the Defense Logistics Agency's troop support organization.

DLA — which acts as the Department of Defense's combat logistics unit — awarded the first phase of the project via a broad agency announcement that sought technology platforms that could support the military distribution network, the company said Monday.

Scott Fletcher, president and CEO of LocatorX, said the contract provides the company an opportunity to help U.S. service branches manage inventories worldwide in real time with the use of technology.

The Atlanta-based technology firm launched in 2014 and patented a shipment tracking method using an atomic clock nanotechnology developed by University of Oxford scientists.
