A Dynetics-led team is bidding to secure an award under NASA’s specific effort to land astronauts on the lunar surface, Space News reported Friday.

Kristina Hendrix, director of corporate communications at Dynetics, said the company submitted a proposal in response to NASA’s Human Landing System solicitation.

Officials from Sierra Nevada Corporation confirmed the company’s partnership with Dynetics for the effort and told reporters the team had entered an HLS proposal in the fall of 2019.

“We have put together a very impressive team of experienced small and mid-sized companies that bring a wide range of experience in NASA, DoD and commercial space programs,” Hendrix said.

The space agency accepted proposals through Nov. 5. A Blue Origin-led team including Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin has also submitted a proposal for the effort.

Last October, Leidos agreed to purchase Dynetics for $1.65B. Leidos expects to complete the acquisition in the first quarter of 2020.
