Motorola Solutions has opened a college campus innovation center in Illinois that will help undergraduate and graduate students apply skills to technological development.
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Research Park houses the new facility, which marks Motorola’s first innovation center at a college campus, the company said Friday.
Motorola’s chief technology office will provide projects that students will work on at the newly-established innovation center. Up to 40 interns and personnel may use the center concurrently.
Craig Ibbotson, technical staff member at Motorola Solutions and a University of Illinois alumnus, will serve as the center’s site director.
“The university’s Research Park is an incubator for new ideas and technologies, and we look forward to contributing to that culture of innovation and creativity,†said John Kedzierski, senior vice president of video security solutions at Motorola Solutions.
