Identification technology provider Idemia aims to introduce mobile driver’s license programs in 10 states by the end of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
Delaware partnered with the company to roll out mDLÂ technology via a pilot program for local residents with Android or iOS devices and began efforts to raise awareness of digital verification features.
Matthew Thompson, senior vice president of civil identity at Idemia’s North American arm, told WSJ in an interview the company does not store personal information nor use location data.
He added that the company verifies information with official records from a motor vehicle department through a data transfer protection method.
