The Air Force Research Laboratory has introduced a two-part strategy to collect proposals on research and development of technology platforms intended to address defense manufacturing challenges.
AFRL said Tuesday the hybrid funding opportunity announcement approach offers an alternative contracting method for the Defense Production Act Title III Program, which aims to help industry manage the supply of goods and materials needed to produce military systems.
The open FOA offers companies an opportunity to submit white papers at any time and the individual calls for production technology can be made available through the FedBizOpps website.
Both solicitation paths cover broad topic areas that include scaling of emerging technology, sustainment of critical production and commercialization of R&D investments.
AFRL serves as the Department of Defense's executive agent program office for DPA Title III.
The lab set a 60-month access period for the hybrid FOA document it published on July 12.
