The Systems of Systems Consortium has selected SRI International to design a low-light-level night vision camera prototype for the U.S. Army.
SRI said Monday it aims to integrate a complementary metal oxide semiconductor sensor into a camera designed to address low size, weight and power requirements in support of the service branch's Integrated Visual Augmentation System program.
IVAS seeks to incorporate head, body and weapon technologies into a single technology platform for use by warfighters in training and combat.
"SRI has been steadily advancing the low-light-level performance of night vision CMOS image sensors and we are pleased that the IVAS program will incorporate our fourth generation NV-CMOS imagers," said Colin Earle, associate director for imaging systems at SRI International.
