Alion Science and Technology won a potential four-year, $21M task order from the U.S. Air Force to support a maintenance steering group focused on the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System.
The company said Tuesday it will help the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center sustain the JSTARS fleet using a methodology that seeks to implement “The Right Time to Find and the Right Time to Fix" approach.
MSG-3 is designed to modernize the service branch's legacy maintenance system into a set of synchronized tasks that would align with supportability elements and integrate into a hierarchical framework.
"The goal of the MSG-3 maintenance program fleet wide is to increase aircraft availability and to reduce maintenance costs," said Terri Walker-Spoonhour, a senior vice president and head of the distributed simulation group at Alion.
She added the program is projected to increase E-8C reliability by 20 percent and save the Air Force up to 30 percent on maintenance costs. The company also seeks to help the service branch increase mission capable and aircraft availability rate by 35 percent through the implementation of MSG-3.
AFLCMC awarded the task order, which contains a 12-month base period and three option years, under pool 3 of the One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services contract.
