Dewberry will provide mapping services to support the policy enhancement of an insurance program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Dewberry said Thursday it will analyze the U.S.-wide geographic information system of the National Flood Insurance Program‘s mapping and historical claims records as a subcontractor to Milliman, which was selected by FEMA for the NFIP Risk Rating and Policy Forms contract.
Work under the contract will support the second phase of the insurance program’s Risk Rating Redesign initiative. Aside from the GIS mapping service, the Fairfax, Va.-based firm will also provide advisory services on policies, regulations and statutes involved in the risk assessment effort.
The NFIP’s Risk Rating Redesign program is intended to make the flood coverage policy and costs coherent for insurance holders and agents. The revised policy is intended to help the NFIP enhance its delivery of services and expand its network of independent claims adjusters for large-scale disasters.
FEMA’s insurance program provides services that include flood loss protection and risk identification and the development and publication of flood insurance rate maps.
