The University of Wisconsin has selected ViON to help the UW system’s chief information officers implement storage and back-up platforms to support their information technology projects.
ViON said Thursday it will supply the company’s switches, tapes and tape libraries to UW’s 26 campuses worldwide along with storage systems from Oracle, Fujitsu and Hitachi.
Tom Frana, CEO and chairman of ViON, said the partnership offers the company an opportunity to help the university modernize IT infrastructure.
“University of Wisconsin is one of the largest systems of public higher education in the country and their IT operation has a significant impact on the 180,000 students they serve each year,†Frana added.
Herndon, Virginia-based ViON has provided enterprise data center services to government and commercial customers over the past 37 years.
