Jacobs Engineering Group will provide architectural and engineering consultancy services to the U.S. Africa Command under a five-year indefinite-delivery contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District.
The company said Tuesday it will help AFRICOM develop, assess, design, monitor and evaluate infrastructure projects in over 15 African nations as part of the command’s mandate to implement the Defense Department‘s security cooperation, exercises and operations in Africa.
The contract covers infrastructure projects for water resource management, bulk water supply and sanitation; irrigation; transportation; energy and power and industrial and institutional facilities.
Jacobs will install a high-voltage distribution system and security lighting at locations within and surrounding Accra and Tamale in Ghana through the contract’s first task order.
The company plans to collaborate with Ghana’s government, municipalities, market associations, distribution utilities and other stakeholders.
Jacobs has worked with USACE’s Europe District since 2011 and has previously provided water, sanitation and hygiene situation assessment for Sierra Leone and liquefied natural gas studies and design work for Ghana through the district’s task orders.
