The National Institute of Standards and Technology has asked vendors for information on a cloud platform that will work to consolidate the agency’s e-commerce portals into a single system in an effort to facilitate business processes and build up user experience, MeriTalk reported Tuesday.
NIST wants to field a cloud system that complies with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and is built on the Salesforce platform.
The potential cloud-based platform should have a shopping cart feature, allow users to view order status, manage refunds, produce invoices and process quotes and sales orders.
The agency also wants a system that can offer backend integration support for other Salesforce platforms, Oracle’s enterprise resource planning system, Standard Reference Materials e-commerce site’s business system and other shipping tools.
NIST expects to release a request for quotations by the third quarter of fiscal 2018 with plans to award a contract by the fourth quarter, the report added.
