Northrop to Back Interdisciplinary Research Projects of 3 Australian Professors; Ian Irving Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNorthrop Grumman has selected three Australia-based professors to receive multiyear research grants and conduct a collaborative studies in the areas of cognitive radio systems, engineering, human machine interactions and quantum communications.

The company said Tuesday it offered initial grants worth approximately $56,000 to Robert Malaney of the University of New South Wales; Roberto Sabatini of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology; and Tansu Alpcan of the University of Melbourne.

“The professorial scholarships are a continuation of Northrop Grumman’s collaboration with academic institutions in Australia,” said Ian Irving, chief executive of Northrop Grumman Australia.

Irving added the company plans to continue to invest in programs that seek to accelerate the development of advanced technology, increase defense industry capabilities and promote science, technology, engineering and math education.
