Iridium has received a potential $45.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide commercial satellite-based network services support for Defense Department satellite, ground node, user equipment/terminal software and hardware development, integration and testing activities.
DoD said Monday the contract will cover continued communication support services that can aid tactical, operational and strategic-level activities of the department.
The companywill also provide upgrade support to the Distributed Tactical Communications System Phase 3 initiative as well as advanced concepts development support services under the contract.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division will obligate $50,000 from fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds at time of the option exercise.
Work will occur in McLean, Virginia and Tempe, Arizona through November 2021.
