Lockheed Martin has received a potential $60.2 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to offer ship integration and test services for the Aegis weapon system throughout its Advanced Capability Build 12 phase.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $16,886,684 from fiscal 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018 Navy shipbuilding and conversion, operations and maintenance and “other” procurement funds at the time of award.
DoD noted Lockheed Martin Rotary Mission Systems will conduct work in California, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, Virginia, Romania and other locations through November 2018.
The Aegis platform provides users with a capacity to simultaneously engage land targets, submarines and surface ships as well as automatically defend fleets from aircraft, ballistic and cruise missile threats.
