AeroVironment has begun to update its two small unmanned aircraft system offerings in an effort to increase the performance of both platforms in rugged and complex environments.
The company said Monday Puma AE and Raven upgrades will include durability enhancements and new digital data link security tools designed for radio electronic warfare and cyber operations.
“In addition to product enhancements, we are currently working with several customers on certification of our existing and upgraded UAS to operate in their national airspace systems,” said Kirk Flittie, vice president and general manager of AeroVironment’s UAS business unit.
Puma and Raven will also be equipped with specialized processors built to support advanced navigation strategies and third-party algorithms.
AeroVironment will presents its updated small UAS platforms at the Association of the United States Army’s Global Force Symposium in March next year.
