Rolf Ziesing, former vice president of national security programs and nuclear equipment manufacturing at BWX Technologies, has been named VP of programs at General Atomics‘ electromagnetic systems business unit.

General Atomics said Tuesday Ziesing will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and Advanced Arresting Gear programs as well as help transition technology concepts to undersea domain and weapon systems applications.

“We are extremely pleased to have Rolf join the GA-EMS team to help guide the development of a robust EMALS and AAG sustainment capability for on-going support of the U.S. Navy’s Ford-class carriers, and to help develop the export market for these first-of-kind aircraft carrier launch and recovery technologies,” stated Scott Forney, GA-EMS president.

Prior to BWX, Ziesing spent nearly six years at Westinghouse Electric Company, where he served in key positions such as director of quality for U.S. and Asia nuclear fuel operations.

He also worked at the U.S. Naval Reactors office in Washington as a lead engineer, branch chief and representative of the Senior Executive Service.
