Unisys has received a 12-year contract from the Philippines’ statistics authority to provide digital government services intended to help modernize the country’s civil registry system.
The company said Wednesday it will manage a process to originate, authenticate, secure and issue civil registry documents to citizens as well as lead a public-private partnership to design, develop, operate and maintain the modernized system.
Unisys added the contract also covers network infrastructure and application system modernization; a nine-story building to house a new customer service facility and data center; 40 additional civil registry system outlets; and self-service kiosks and mobile outlets.
Modernization activity will occur over a two-year period and Unisys will shoulder upfront development costs then share fees collected from citizens through the services.
Unisys has supported the Philippine civil registry system the company was selected to digitize the largely manual system in 1999.
