Some national security experts have pointed to a new analytics tool dubbed “graph technology” as a means to help identify signs of cyber attacks before they occur, CNN reported Thursday.
Nicole Gaouette writes graph technology works to identify how data is connected to form algorithms that can spot irregularities based on previous patterns.
Mark Testoni, president and CEO of SAP National Security Services, told CNN he believes graph technology can be applied to national security work in the next few years.
Testoni added the tool can be used to analyze social media data and geospatial information such as mapping data, GPS waypoints, census information and images from satellites, drones and aircraft.
“We’ve doubled the entirety of digital information in the entire world in the last two or three years…Â It offers great promise,” Testoni said.
