MapRSan Jose, California-based converged data platform developer MapR Technologies has established a federal advisory board that aims to help familiarize U.S. government customers with big data management technologies.

MapR said Wednesday the advisory board comprises former government leaders who previously worked at the Defense Department, intelligence community and federal civilian agencies and have knowledge of various issues that affect the government’s information technology modernization efforts.

“The board members are so passionate about helping the federal government,” said Doug Natal, vice president and general manager of federal operations at MapR.

“They understand the mission-value of merging historical data with today’s live streaming data collection techniques.”

Members of MapR’s federal advisory board include:

  • Rhett Hernandez, president of CyberLens and a retired U.S. Army lietuenant general
  • Joanne Isham, principal of Isham Associates and former deputy director for science and technology at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency
  • Francis Landoff, senior partner of Core Consulting and former chief of cryptanalsysis and exploitation services at the National Security Agency
  • Brian McCauley, owner of Flynn Intel Group and former deputy assistant director for international operations at the FBI
  • John Teeters, senior vice president of Government Technology Perspectives and former deputy chief information officer at the Department of Health and Human Services
  • Peter Tseronis, CEO of Dots and Bridges and former chief technology officer at the departments of Energy and Education
  • John Vonglis, senior vice president of Red Apple Group and former chief management officer at the U.S. Air Force
  • Jim Williams, CEO of Schambach and Williams Consulting and former acting administrator at the General Services Administration

MapR added the board members will work to educate, simplify and obtain insights from the government’s data collection and data analytics stakeholders.
