L-3 Communications‘ link simulation and training division has won a $38.3 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop a flight crew training system for the service branch’s airborne warning-and-control system aircraft.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the company will perform work on the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources Replacement of Avionics for Global Operations and Navigation program in Arlington, Texas, through June 30, 2020.
The Air Force received four bids for the contract and obligated $19 million from its fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
The AWACS aircraft works to help the Joint Air Operations Center gain access to an integrated command and control battle management, surveillance, target detection and tracking platform.
