A cross-service tactical program of the Defense Department has deployed SteelCloud‘s automated remediation platform to drive compliance with the Defense Information Systems Agency‘s Security Technical Implementation Guide standards.
SteelCloud said Thursday ConfigOS is designed to scan Windows and Linux systems for STIG controls in less than a minute and remediate a system in less than two minutes without manual labor.
“It took only 30 days to complete the entire process from demonstration at the customer site through approval, completion of the [General Services Administration] acquisition process and implementation of ConfigOS into production,” said Brian Hajost, SteelCloud president and CEO.
ConfigOS works to accommodate one-day installation and provide compliance results within a week in efforts to compress the timeline for reaccreditation and achieve cost savings, SteelCloud noted.
“The use of automation is the key to meeting security mandates while improving deployment agility; it is the only way that we will be able to stay ahead of threats,” added Henry Sienkiewicz, former chief information officer and designated approval authority at DISA.
STIG provides technical guidance to protect DoDÂ information systems or software against computer attacks.
