ScanEagleBoeing’s Insitu subsidiary has received a potential four-year, $12.3 million task order to provide support services for the ScanEagle unmanned aerial system to use onboard the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Security Cutter ship.

The Coast Guard awarded the task order under a Naval Air Systems Command multiple-award contract, Insitu said Monday.

The contract has a base period of one year worth $4.5 million and covers integration, maintenance and operation support for the company’s ScanEagle UAS as well as three option years to deploy the drone and collect surveillance data through the UAS.

“Insitu is proud to be the first UAS [intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance] service provider in support of the Coast Guard,” said Ryan Hartman, president and CEO of Insitu.

The military branch tested ScanEagle in a search-and-rescue demonstration held in July 2015 over the Northwest Passage.
