Lockheed Martin‘s commercial engine development and distribution unit has received an eight-year exclusive contract from Frontier Airlines for CFM56-5 engine repair and maintenance services on the Airbus-built A319 and A320ceo aircraft.
Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions will perform work in Montreal and receive initial delivery orders from the first quarter of this year through 2023, Lockheed said Wednesday.
Prior to the agreement, Frontier Airlines has already sent out several CFM56-5 engines to LMCES’ Montreal facility for repair, Lockheed added.
Charles Bouchard, CEOÂ of Lockheed’s Canadian arm, said the contract also works to bolster the local aerospace jobs market in Montreal.
The company noted that the LMCES facility houses aircraft maintenance, repair and operations and component repair work on five commercial engines.
