A Chemring Group subsidiary has received contracts worth almost $4 million to provide bomb detection systems to the U.S. Army and subsurface object detectors to Saudi Arabia.
NIITEK will build technology for the Army to detect underground roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices under the Next-Generation Handheld Multi-Sensor Explosive contract, Chemring said Tuesday.
The Army Research Laboratory awarded NIITEK a separate contract to produce, test and evaluate Groundshark handheld dual sensor technology designed to recognize metallic and non-metallic objects located below the surface of the ground.
NIITEK and partner W.S. Darley & Co. will also provide sensor training, documentation and logistics support to ARL.
Saudi Arabia’s defense and aviation agency also chose NIITEK to provide Groundsharks and related support services.
The company partnered with IPA Defence and ESNAD Defence on the Saudi Arabia contract.
