LexisNexisNorfolk, Va.’s police department has started to implement a LexisNexis Risk Solutions-built reporting tool.

Lexis Nexis’ Desk Officer Reporting System works to help users submit crime reports online and communicate directly with police personnel in multiple languages, including Spanish, LexisNexis said Monday.

The police department also has become the first East Coast agency to allow users to buy approved copies of LexisNexis system-generated incident reports.

“The Norfolk Police Department is taking initiative by utilizing this platform, and their model can serve as a template for other agencies,” said Roy Marler, vice president at LexisNexis Risk Solutions.

“Enabling citizens to submit reports also significantly reduces the amount of paper needed to fulfill report requests.”
