Parsons has received a contract from the Ontario transportation ministry to provide environmental assessment planning and preliminary design services for Canada’s future 407 Transitway.

The company said Thursday the contract covers 23 kilometers of the 150-kilometer rapid transit corridor, which will run parallel to Highway 407.

Todd Wager, Parsons group president, noted that this is the company’s third contract for the 407 Transitway project.

“When this third contract is completed, Parsons will have performed the preliminary design and environmental assessments for all 63km contracted to date for the planned 150‑km transitway,” he said.

According to Parsons, the project aims to bolster east-west accessibility and reduce traffic congestion in the Greater Toronto Area.
