General Dynamics has received a potential $29 million contract to supply digital modular radios and related tools to the U.S. Navy for new surface ships and submarines.
The contract production of 56 units of AN/USC-61(C) DMRs with the Mobile User Objective System waveform that is designed to help place voice calls with the Defense Department’s MUOS narrowband satellite communications platform, the company said Monday.
The service branch placed the order under option five of a contract awardd in 2010.
General Dynamics has updated the software on DMRs in an effort to increase the radio’s virtual channels to eight and broaden communications capacity for sailors.
