Orbital ATK will produce composite frames and stringers for installation on Airbus’ A350-1000 aircraft following the expansion of a contract between the two firms on the A350 program.
Orbital ATK said Wednesday it currently manufactures composite structures for the A350-900 variant at its commercial aircraft facility in Clearfield, Utah, and has already supplied at least 44,000 components to Airbus since the start of the A350 program.
“Our work with Airbus is an important component of growth for Orbital ATK in the commercial aerospace structures business,†said Steve Earl, vice president and general manager of aerospace structures division at Orbital ATK.
Orbital ATK expects to hire more workers to meet production demands as part of the contract expansion.
