Airbus Defence and Space has secured a three-year contract with Beijing Just Top Network Communications Co. Ltd to provide maintenance services for the Beijing government’s digital trunked system.
Under the deal, Airbus will perform software and hardware maintenance, help desk and emergency support services for the Beijing Government Shared Tetra Network, which offers communication services for the city’s government agencies and urban management institutions, Airbus said Tuesday.
Nicole Lecca, head of secure land communications at Airbus Defence and Space, said the contract suggests that “Tetra remains an essential asset for mission-critical voice communications.â€
“Moreover, with our efforts to develop Tetra we make sure that it will be an integral part of our solutions portfolio for secure communications in the decades to come.â€
Launched in 2003, the trunked network now caters to at least 110,000 users and has been used to support large-scale events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2014 APEC CEO Summit.
