The First Responder Network Authority board is seeking public input on its draft request for proposals and the enabling legislation’s use of the term “public safety entity” to drive collaboration with the public safety community.
FirstNet said Friday the release of the special notice for feedback on the draft RFP and the third public notice for comment on legislative language is part of the approved framework for the acquisition of the nationwide public safety broadband network.
“We look forward to having a meaningful dialogue on these two topics with the public safety community, state and local jurisdictions, territories and tribes, and potential offerors to move us along our strategic road map toward a final RFP and ultimately the deployment of a dedicated public safety broadband network,” said FirstNet Chair Sue Swenson.
The FirstNet board noted that it follows Resolution 65 in conducting its consultation with different jurisdictions, market participants and the public safety community on acquisition matters.
FirstNet released the special notice Monday and will accept responses within the next 90 days, while a pre-publication version of the third public notice was posted on its website Friday.
