EMC has commissioned a survey of 10,451 information technology professionals worldwide to assess their views on the role of IT in organizations.
The survey, conducted by Vanson Bourne, indicates a growing adoption of hybrid cloud among companies due to pressure from IT skills gap and the need for an in-house broker of on-demand services, EMC said Tuesday.
The survey reveals a 9 percent growth in hybrid cloud adoption since 2013, with the Europe, Middle East and Africa region accounting for 28 percent of that increase, followed by Latin America (24%) and Asia Pacific and Japan (24%).
“Enterprise IT continues to be under massive pressure to improve quality of service while reducing cost,†said Jeremy Burton, president of products and marketing at EMC.
“As a result, companies are moving toward more advanced levels of IT infrastructure driven by innovation such as hybrid cloud. We expect this uptake to continue in 2015 as companies look for agile, simple and secure services,†added Burton.
Sixty-nine percent of IT professionals polled say their organization faces the challenge of training IT staff on cloud, mobile, social and big data applications.
Seventy-nine percent of respondents from emerging markets also believe cloud, mobile, social and big data offer a competitive advantage.
