mobile securityA mobile security archiving technology developed by George Mason University and funded by the Department of Homeland Security will reach the commercial market through an agreement with Kryptowire, Federal Times reported Wednesday.

Michael Hardy writes that the product’s commercial release is an extension of a George Mason research project, which originally received a $250,000 federal grant to create the technology for government agencies.

The cybersecurity product works to catalog mobile applications that have been vetted for compliance with security requirements, the report said.

“We are excited to facilitate the transition of this technology into the marketplace,” said Vincent Sritapan, mobile security program manager at DHS’ cybersecurity division, according to the report.

Kryptowire is a small business based in Fairfax, Virginia.
