Siemens will connect students at the Mott Community College with the company’s manufacturing product lifecycle management software under a $55.8 million technology grant, continuing Siemens’ 15-year partnership with the school.
Chuck Grindstaff, president and CEO of Siemens PLM Software, said Wednesday. that the company aims to help the school prepare its students for co-op assignments and manufacturing jobs by integrating PLM technology into education.
Training on the Teamcenter platform will be available through degree programs and courses on design, manufacturing, service industry, computer and information technology.
Siemens announced the partnership with the college at the Manufacturing in America Symposium in Detroit.
The company has invested at least $2 billion into partnerships with almost 30 community colleges and universities in Michigan.
“We are excited about the new capacity this [grant] brings to the region and the opportunity to further expand our work in design, PLM and digital manufacturing,” said M. Richard Shaink, Mott Community College president.
