satellite airforceIridium Communications will provide its M2M Short Burst Data technology to industrial telematics company ZTR Control Systems for satellite connectivity and wide-scale data services coverage.

Iridium said Wednesday it will work to automatically route data with the ZTR inReach telematics device starting in April.

Bryan Hartin, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Iridium, said the company will launch the Iridium NEXT constellation in 2015 to support its current portfolio of machine-to-machine technology.

Hartin added Iridium also aims to help ZTR grow its coverage through the partnership.

Michael Tidy, general manager of ZTR Control Systems’ connected asset division, said the company will use the tools to manage telematics-equipped fleets for customers.

Iridium’s M2M offering is built to address enterprise communication requirements for container, mobile asset, fleet and vehicle tracking in the oil and gas, utility and maritime and aviation industries.
