More than half of respondents to a Royal Philips survey of healthcare executives cited clinical devices and mobile technologies as among their major information technology investments targeted toward compliance.
Interoperability, mobile connectivity and applications were also mentioned as items on the agendas of health IT executives in 2014, Philips said Monday.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents cited clinical devices as acquisitions for compliance and 54 percent referred to mobile purchases, Philips said.
“EMRs must meaningfully use the information across a hospital’s network to improve care and add value for the patient,” said Joe Frassica, vice president and chief medical information officer for patient care and monitoring services for Philips Healthcare.
Fifty-three percent of respondents said electronic medical record applications receive the largest budget share from their organizations.
Healthcare providers are implementing a new EMR system as a fresh technology in an effort to meet reform programs, according to 51 percent of surveyed executives.
HIMSS Media received 142 responses for the survey.
