Louis-Berger-GroupJamey Barbas, a three-decade bridge design and management veteran, has joined engineering consulting contractor Louis Berger Group as senior vice president of the firm’s global practice for major structures.

She has led inspection, design and construction work for New York City’s Williamsburg Bridge and served as bridge design manager for a public-private partnership project in Montreal, Quebec to build the AutoRoute 30 bridge, Louis Berger said Wednesday.

Barbas will oversee Louis Berger’s transportation structures practice, lead large-scale pursuits, supervise project managers and also focus on complex structures and long-span bridge projects.

Prior to joining the firm, she held leadership roles at companies such as ARUP, Hardesty & Hanover, Parsons Corp. and URS Corp.

Engineering-News Record selected Barbas as one of the publication’s top “Newsmakers of 2004” for her work to help resolve an emergency at a suspension bridge within 15 weeks.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Columbia University and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of New York.
